It's been great to meet everyone I have met over the last 2 years through walks advertised on this website.
Unfortunately I seem to have taken on the bulk of walk leading, and I am flagging a bit. Also this site is dedicated solely to walking, but I actually like to do other things with my weekends every now and then.
So I've emailed all existing members and have told them that an era has come to an end and I will no longer advertise walks through this site.
Fear Not! ...Read Full Post »

We had a great walk this Sunday with a dazzling display of colour from the autumn leaves, Many thanks to Mike who arranged and led the three churches walk. We came across some unusual sap like material on a fallen tree - unusual as it was purple! Check out the photos later this week and please let us know if you can identify it.
If you haven't already let Alison or Sara know that you are joining us on the 16th Dec for our Christmas lunch then please do so soon as we will need to re...Read Full Post »

Sorry for the short notice but the Knapwell walk was postponed by the Cambridge Walkers because of the rain and so I have cancelled it out of our Calendar.
I hope the weather is better for Mike's Moulton Walk next week.

Join me to support our local Lions group at their Autumn Fayre next Saturday. I expect to be helping out behind a stall but it'd be great if you could pop along to browse amongst the stalls.
They do great bacon butties and you never know, you might pick up some Xmas presents while you're there.
It will be in the Corn Exchange in St. Ives starting from 10am probably closing down about 3 or 4 (depending how they're doing....). Last year there was also a craft f...Read Full Post »

Well! Sunday's walk turned out to be even more interesting than anticipated. It was great countryside but who could have imagined that somebody would have dug a massive hole right where the footpath should have been?
The relief Walk Leader (ie me) had never walked the area before and it was all a bit of an adventure (for me) to start with. Luckily Rob was on hand with local knowledge and an ability (that I lack) to read and follow guide book instructions. Give me...Read Full Post »

The news seasons walks (September to January) are being added to this website over the next few weeks, so watch this space. If you are a member we will also be emailing you a pdf of the list.
Due to the rapid demise of quite a few pubs we may have to amend minor details to the planned walks and lunches. We do this by updating the site regularly and also by sending emails out to our members, so it is worth becoming a member to get the latest updates.
We are also hoping to get ...Read Full Post »

Hi fellow walkers, The Sandy walk is still on meeting at 10.20 but due to the uncertain weather we will be retiring to one of the local pubs (probably either the Queens Head or the Lord Roberts in the market square) . See you there!

Hi folks - what lovely weather we are having!
All walks are still happening as viewed in the calendar but we have postponed the picnics and BBQs for the moment and will head back to the pub for lunch instead.
The local weather report (as viewed in the bottom of the home page) looks like sunny but cloudy this Sunday. We look forward to seeing you there.

I'll be at the Riverside Mill this Wednesday with some friends from the Meet Up group I've joined. There are about 16 of us going, they are great fun people and I'm sure you'd all get on very well with them.
Message me if you want to come along and we can arrange to meet up. 8 - 10 pm.

This Sunday's walk was great for spotting wildlife. Plenty of butterflies, but sadly not so many bees.
The start to the walk was a little confusing to find as the farmer had moved the paths but whilst we pondered the way a Red Kite flew calmly over our heads - totally ignoring us. This bird is still on the Amber endangered species list so It was lovely to see it up close like this, just floating effortlessly above the meadow.
A little while later we also spotted a deer, but could...Read Full Post »

I notice that most of June is taken up with the Gower Walking Festival. Is anyone going? If not, will there be walks as usual on Sundays?
