Mud Mud Glorious Mud

Another lovely sunday walk without a downpour. Lots of mud and plenty of wild flowers starting to bloom. Five of us had an enjoyable lunch too swapping stories of the local floods. Check out the photos as we upload them today.

Will all those interested in coming to the next games night (I still have wine that needs drinking!) please let me know which Friday is best for them in May.

The highlights of the last event included whitewater rafting (in the living room), Scrabble, various card games, Jenga and lots of laughter!

:D  Any other suggestions are welcome  :D

Quiz Nights

Have just found out that the Priory in St Neots holds a quiz night on Mondays at 8pm.   Will look for alternatives as I'm guessing Friday nights are better for most people.

You can also leave notices here to confirm if you will be joining the walks on a particular day .

You can even use this space just to comment about the wonderful walk you just had :) (and yet again the rain held off on Sunday - I shall definately be going back to the Axe and Compass in Hemmingford Abbots for another meal - the food was delicious.)

If anyone is interested in the Peak District walk on the 29th please email HSF and we will try to orgaise car sharing etc. Details will be emailed to all members as usual.

Quiz night success

A big thank you to those who arranged the social evening last Friday :).  I will now never forget what  'Kangaroo'  means! The quiz was great fun but it seems that the best prize went to the loosers - so can we please loose next time as the doughnuts looked yummy!

I look forward to the next one - perhaps we can make two full teams?

Quiz Night in Buckden

Posted by Alison on February 19, 2012 at 11:15 AM Comments comments (0)

Check out the calendar.  A group of us are planning to try out a quiz night held at the Buckden Marina the last Friday of every month.  We won't be going this month as there isn't enough time to book ahead, but plan to aim for 30th March night.

Let Alison know via the huntingdon single file email if you're interested in going.  £5 per head which includes a complimentary supper.

January 8th walk

We have move the St Ives walk to the summer (where there is less chance of the route being flooded!) and have replaced it with a circular walk from Buckden to Offord Cluny, along a woodland path by Diddington Brook and adjacent to the nature reserve. Lunch is at the newly reopened pub, The Vine, in Buckden.

Future walks 2011-12

Posted by huntingdon-single-file on November 27, 2011 at 2:50 PM Comments comments (0)

Due to popular demand we have created a printable list of the walks booked until mid January which is available to anyone upon request.

We will be holding a meeting next year to organise further weekly walks for 2012, so if anyone has a favourite walk they would like to share - nearby or further afield - we would love to hear from you. Our summer walking holiday in North Norfolk was great fun so we will be booking a similar venture in April (possibly on a canal barge!)

Craft Fayre and change to St Neots Circular walk

Posted by huntingdon-single-file on November 20, 2011 at 11:45 AM Comments comments (0)

Sunday 27th November circular walk in St Neots

We thought it would be fun to visit the Christmas Craft Fayre at Ernulf Academy so we have changed the meeting place - so that you don't have far to walk with all the gifts you have bought!

We are now meeting outside the swimming pool entrance at St Neots Leisure Centre, (main carpark at Ernulf Academy) Barford Road, St Neots, Cambridgeshire PE19 2SH. Free parking. Lunch will be at a local pub. Please call us on 07967 529497 for the pub location if you are interested in meeting some group members but are unable to walk this day.

(Note: Ernulf Academy is marked on maps as St Neots Community College still)

Meet at 10.15 for a 10.25 start.

This walk will be led by Saffy.

Between 4-5 miles.
